The Alatau City Authority Special Management Organization and South Korean technology companies AST Holdings Co., Ltd. and ILJOO GnS Co., Ltd. have signed a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of Smart City and digital technologies.

The document provides for the launch of a joint pilot project (Proof of Concept, PoC) applying digital twin and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies within Alatau City.

The signing took place in Busan as part of the international Global Smart City Expo and became a practical step towards bringing the world’s leading expertise into the creation of the new city.

Alatau City is developing as a major new center of urbanization and business activity in Kazakhstan. The project’s key advantage is the ability to lay down a single digital infrastructure from the very beginning, in parallel with physical construction, integrating artificial intelligence tools, data collection and IoT into the urban environment from scratch.

Under the Memorandum, the parties will not move straight to costly full-scale rollouts, but will first test the technologies in practice. The pilot project will make it possible to trial the collection and synchronization of city data and the monitoring of engineering systems. In the longer term, the digital model will become an applied tool for management decisions in urban planning, transport logistics, utility network monitoring and environmental safety.

“Our task is not to wait until the city has been built and only then begin its complex digital transformation. Alatau City has a unique opportunity to shape the required IT architecture from the very foundations. We see the digital twin not merely as a presentation 3D model, but as a working analytical system for managing the city’s development on the basis of real data. That is why we are starting with a pilot together with recognized Korean experts, in order to assess the effectiveness of every solution in practice before scaling it up,” emphasized Alisher Abdykadyrov, CEO of Alatau City Authority.

The partners of Alatau City Authority have proven international experience:

AST Holdings Co., Ltd. is a South Korean company specializing in Smart City, GIS, BIM and Digital Twin technologies, with experience in delivering large-scale projects in South Korea, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

ILJOO GnS Co., Ltd. is a developer of solutions in industrial digitalization, artificial intelligence and critical infrastructure security.

Cooperation with the Korean partners is built on the principle of joint testing and mutual technology transfer. Following the signing, expert groups will begin agreeing the parameters of the pilot zone. Based on the PoC results, the parties will consider expanding the functionality of the Alatau City digital twin ecosystem.
