Participant status is available to a legal entity of the Republic of Kazakhstan or a foreign company implementing a project that aligns with the priority activities of the Alatau SEZ.

The project must fall under one of the approved priority activities of the SEZ. The full list includes manufacturing, logistics, construction, pharmaceutical and other sectors.

Yes. Foreign legal entities may participate in the implementation of projects, provided that documents are submitted with a notarized translation into Kazakh and Russian.

To submit an application, a set of documents is required, including the company's constituent documents, financial statements, the project feasibility study, confirmation of financial security and other documents in accordance with the established requirements.

A feasibility study is the core project document, containing a description of the project, the market, the production process, the financial model, a risk assessment and the expected results of implementation. The structure of the feasibility study is defined by the requirements of the SEZ management company.

Yes. The applicant must confirm financial security for the project amounting to at least 10% of its value. This can be provided through funds, a bank guarantee, a surety, a pledge of property or an insurance contract.

Once the complete document package has been submitted, the management company reviews the application and makes a decision within 10 business days. Registration with the Unified Coordination Center and issuance of the certificate take up to a further 5 business days. The overall duration of the procedure is up to 15 business days.

Once participant status is granted, the company is entitled to apply the tax incentives and other preferences provided under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan for special economic zone participants.

To obtain SEZ participant status, the applicant must be a legal entity. Foreign investors may register a company in Kazakhstan or use another legal form provided for by law to implement the project.
